KPCC features the ongoing research work of CIM's Executive Director
On September 30th, UCLA CIM Executive Director Dr. Eric Savitsky was interviewed by KPCC reporter Patricia Nazario about the ongoing research he is leading to develop an ultrasound training simulator. The simulator was one component of a project Dr. Savitsky has been working on with the Department of Defense for the past two years.

The article highlighted the 2-year effort headed by Dr. Savitsky to create multimedia training materials for military physicians. UCLA CIM enters the Free Range Studios YouTopia grant contest.
The 2009 YouTopia grant offers organizations involved in social causes an opportunity to access world-renowned services from Free Range Studios. The UCLA CIM would use this grant to help raise awareness about the shortage of healthcare workers worldwide and launch a new campaign about the work CIM is doing in this area. UCLA CIM becomes a member of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood
This month CIM joined the movement to promote increased public awareness of the need to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for all women and newborns around the world by becoming a member of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood. CIM is proud to be a voice within the UCLA community for this great cause and excited to be one of many wonderful member organizations dedicated to this coalition.

UCLA CIM & CASIT staff contribute to recently released report from the Brookings Institute
Eric Savitsky, Koren Shelton, and Nicole Durden were all listed as contributors to the newly released report "Voices of America: U.S. Public Diplomacy for the 21st Century" written by Kristen Lord of the Brookings Institute. UCLA CIM and UCLA CASIT staff participated in brainstorming sessions held in Los Angeles and New York this summer.

Bali International Medical Centre Hospital and CIM Enter Educational Partnership
The UCLA Center for International Medicine and the Bali International Medical Centre Hospital have reentered their partnership to provide ongoing emergency medicine education for Indonesia careproviders. The program utilizes volunteer physicians from the United States as they participate in month-long educational rotations at BIMC.
