October ’09:

UCLA CIM announces the launch of its pages on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. The UCLA CIM social networking sites will provide followers with new and updates about the Center, volunteer opportunities, and information on international rotations.

June ’09:

UCLA CIM becomes a member of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood
This month CIM joined the movement to promote increased public awareness of the need to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for all women and newborns around the world by becoming a member of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood. CIM is proud to be a voice within the UCLA community for this great cause and excited to be one of many wonderful member organizations dedicated to this coalition.

April ’09:

UCLA CIM partners with USDFA on African First Ladies Health Summit
Following a newly formed partnership with US Doctors for Africa (USDFA), CIM staff members became involved in the historic event attending sessions and other scheduled events. This partnership will continue as needs identified by the First Ladies are addressed. Read more about the event here.

November ’08:

UCLA CIM & CASIT staff contribute to recently released report from the Brookings Institute
Eric Savitsky, Koren Shelton, and Nicole Durden were all listed as contributors to the newly released report "Voices of America: U.S. Public Diplomacy for the 21st Century" written by Kristen Lord of the Brookings Institute. UCLA CIM and UCLA CASIT staff participated in brainstorming sessions held in Los Angeles and New York this summer.

UCLA CIM & CASIT contributor Bin Dong featured in UCLA Department of Mathematics Newsletter
Bin Dong, a UCLA mathematics grad student, has been featured in the monthly newsletter published by the UCLA Department of Mathematics regarding his work on image processing for ultrasound training at the Center for International Medicine and CASIT.

September ’08:

Bali International Medical Centre Hospital and CIM Enter Educational Partnership
The UCLA Center for International Medicine and the Bali International Medical Centre Hospital have reentered their partnership to provide ongoing emergency medicine education for Indonesia careproviders. The program utilizes volunteer physicians from the United States as they participate in month-long educational rotations at BIMC.

August ’08:

UCLA CIM and Dr. Eric Savitsky featured in the Malibu Times
The UCLA Center for International Medicine and the work of Dr. Eric Savitsky was featured in an article titled "Closing the medical knowledge gap worldwide" in the Malibu Times. (August 2008)
